Posted Date: 03/23/2023

The following information concerning procedures and guidelines is offered for your convenience.

Littlefield Primary Mission Statement

The Littlefield Independent School District realizes that those students entering our schools today will graduate and live in the 21st century. Their needs will be dictated by a rapidly changing society. Our responsibility combined with the efforts of parents and community members is to prepare these students to not only live but prosper in this rapidly changing world. The decisions made today will have major effects on the quality, efficiency, and reliability of the education delivered to students.

Littlefield Vision

Littlefield Primary will set high standards for all students in each core content area and develop life-long learners.

Primary Guidelines To Success

The Wildcat Way

*Be Responsible

*Be Respectful

*Be Safe

New Security Measures

All parents MUST enter the school at the front door and exit at the front door. ALL doors will remain locked during the school day, including the front door. When visiting the campus, you will need to push the doorbell/intercom system, at the front door, when you come to the school and wait to be buzzed in. Safety of our children is a priority at Littlefield Primary.

ARRIVAL

Students may enter the building at 7:30 a.m.  During the early morning, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will go to the cafeteria. PreK students will go directly to their classrooms as they arrive starting at 7:30 a.m. K, 1st and 2nd grade teachers will pick up their class at 7:45 a.m. from the cafeteria. Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast in the classroom from 7:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. daily.

DISMISSAL

Students will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m. daily. At Littlefield Primary, we use the idismiss System. This system allows us to quickly recognize students by their assigned number at dismissal. Every parent will be given 2 tags at the beginning of school to use when picking up a student. All parents/family members must display or bring their student’s tags when picking up children afterschool. Staff are NOT authorized to dismiss a child by being told verbally a student’s name/number, or by being shown a picture of the tag on the phone.

Siblings from the Elementary and Jr. High will all have a tag that they MUST show you before getting a sibling. They also cannot just tell you or show you a picture on their phone. If parents or siblings do not have a tag, please continue to send them to the front office to verify their identity with the secretary and/or principal. If you need new tags, please contact the office before dismissal time. Each tag will be $1 to replace. Siblings will be getting tags for their backpacks. This applies to siblings going to the front or back doors. Students remaining on the campus after 3:45 p.m. will be escorted to the front of the school.  They will remain at this location until someone picks them up.

ATTENDANCE

School attendance is extremely important!  It is crucial for your child to be at school everyday and on time.  The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Parents must call the school office every day the student is absent (806-385-4551).  Students arriving after attendance time at 10:15 a.m. must provide a note from the physician’s office in order to be counted present for that particular school day.

TARDIES

Classes will begin promptly at 7:55 a.m.  Students arriving after this time are tardy and must report to the office for a pass to class.  Please make sure that your child arrives on time and is in the classroom and ready to work no later than 7:55 a.m.  Valuable classroom instruction and morning announcements are missed when a child is tardy.

STUDENTS LEAVING CAMPUS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Parents must come to the office and sign out the student.  To maximize classroom instruction, students will not be released from class until the parent arrives at the school to sign them out.  Please bring your student’s dismissal tag when you pick them up.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

Every student deserves a safe learning environment.  Therefore, the district’s Student Code of Conduct will be enforced.  The Student Code of Conduct booklet can be found on the LISD website at https://files.gabbart.com/2531/student_handbook_and_student_code_of_conduct.pdf

If a student’s behavior constitutes continuous disregard for classroom rules or if a major infraction to a rule occurs, the student will receive a write-up on an Office Referral.  School officials are required to inform parents of such action.  The form will be sent home with the student and they must return the form on the next school day signed by the parent/guardian.

P.O.P.S (Parents of Primary Student Organization)

Parents and guardians we encourage you to join our Facebook Page called P.O.P.s. We will post lots of information for families and this will allow you to ask questions as well. Please request to join at:

VISITORS

Visitors are always welcome at Littlefield Primary.  The faculty and staff believe that a close working relationship among parents, teachers, and community is of great value to our school. To ensure student safety, any individual visiting the school, for any reason, must report first to the office.  Please note that all outside doors are locked after 7:55 a.m. Visitors will need to push the doorbell/intercom system, at the front door, when you come to the school and wait for a staff member to speak to you over the intercom.

Parents may eat lunch with their student at our reserved lunch table. We will have the following expectations in place during your campus visit for the safety and security of all students and staff:

•       Guests will sign in and out as they arrive and leave

•       Guests will wear a visitor badge while on campus

•       Guests will remain by the office until their student arrives in the

cafeteria.

•       Guests and their student will eat in the reserved area.

•       Guests will leave from the cafeteria and not walk their student to

the classroom.

•       Guests may take pictures of only their student.
